Creating a lasting impact in underserved communities

Supporting and empowering individuals in need with the tools and resources they need to achieve holistic wellness.

At the Good Samaritan Service Project, our mission is to directly provide services, resources, and aid to underserved communities, as well as partner with other organizations to address the spiritual, physical, emotional, financial, and socially unmet needs of those we serve - helping them to live fuller, healthier lives.

Healthcare Resources

Here at TGSP, we work with healthcare providers, federally qualified healthcare centers, healthcare clinics, and insurance providers to help low-income and unhoused individuals get access to adequate healthcare. We also provide resources, workshops, and direct assistance to help English language learners and individuals with limited internet access to fill out forms that are necessary to take part in government assistance programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Job Placement and Employment Opportunities

We work closely with job placement programs, staffing agencies, and local employers for jobs in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas. Through the use of an online portal, individuals enrolled in our program can access and apply for available jobs in their geographic regions.

We understand that a number of individuals may not have a resume or interview skills. Therefore, we directly work to help individuals draft resumes and learn how to interview for jobs that meet their skill set and needs. For our applicants that want to pursue a certain field or trade, we work with local trade schools and also scholarship programs, to get these applicants the funds they need to pursue their prospective careers.

For most of our applicants, housing can be an everyday issue. Even with the availability of transitional housing agencies and shelters, most of the individuals we work with will still find themselves without housing. This is a primary aspect of our organization, which is why we work with agencies and nonprofits that provide access to transitional, supportive, or affordable housing.

It is our goal to pursue opportunities with contractors and nonprofits that work to directly build and create homes for unhoused individuals to live in. With your support, we can expand the work we do here and work to directly provide term-based transitional housing for those in need, as they work to save money to afford housing on their own.

Education and Trade School Placement

We understand that before some people find a hard time finding a job, they first need to acquire the requisite skills and education needed to do those jobs. That is why at TGSP, we work closely with applicants in the intake process to learn their current skills and any prospective career fields they would like to enter.

From that point, we pair our participants with scholarship providers and other non-profit organizations that provide grants and/or discounted programs for our participants to attend school.

Financial Planning

We work closely with financial advisors that help each individual participant learn how to manage their money once they are enrolled in the program and have a steady job. The goal of this program is to help individuals break cycles of poverty and barriers to wellness. One of the biggest barriers to wellness and sufficiency that we have observed stems from a need to know how to manage finances.

Our financial advisors help participants save, place their money in trusts to avoid mismanagement, and learn how to use the money they receive to build their lives and futures.

Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Spiritual Counseling

The most important aspect of the services we provide address the mental health and substance abuse challenges that many individuals in need struggle with. Through spiritual and mental-health counselling, we work directly with providers of these services to help participants learn how to handle trauma, pain, and addiction.

At TGSP, we believe that Jesus is able to heal every infirmity, pain, and addiction. We hope that this organization and the volunteers of the 1037 Commission are able to reach as many people as possible, so that through us, Jesus can make all his children whole.
